Whos is this Program for?

Acquiring a thorough understanding of international laws and regulations via the Master of International Relations program can open doors in academia, government, business, and non-governmental organizations. Individuals with this expertise are adept at managing complex diplomatic scenarios, assessing geopolitical risks for multinational corporations, aiding non-governmental organizations in international development and human rights initiatives, and pursuing academic paths in areas such as security studies and international law. In essence, the Master of International Relations acts as a catalyst for international careers, empowering students to tackle contemporary challenges and shape the global arena.

Seletion process

The Academic Master's program in International Relations selection procedure is done virtually, with an annual examination committee chosen by PPGRI-UFU. The program will be headquartered in Uberlândia, MG (Santa Mônica Campus) and provide both regular and special positions. It will be conducted in person. Through the PPGRI office and website, candidates will have access to the full notice, pertinent data, and registration procedures.

 

Entry Requirements

Prospective applicants interested in pursuing an MSc Degree in International Relations at UFU should hold a bachelor’s or associate degree in any field of study.

The international candidates must fulfill the following enrollment prerequisites:

  1. International students must pass every stage of the selection procedure, which includes the following tests: a) evaluating the research project; b) defending the project orally; and c) evaluating the curriculum.
  2. Submit their undergraduate diploma along with transcripts in accordance with the university's regulations; (Note: For verification of graduation, only the official diploma or certificate will suffice for confirmation. Administrative office-issued certificates are not acceptable. )
  3. A document demonstrating their legal immigration status in Brazil;
  4. A Portuguese Language Proficiency Certificate from PROFLIN – Portuguese Language at ILEEL-UFU (http://www.ileel.ufu.br/proflin) or a CELPE-BRAS Certificate (http://www.mec.gov.br/sesu/celp.shtm).

How to Apply?

International students must complete and email the admission form to the secretary after successfully completing all selection process.

 Instructions for Completing the Admission Application Form:

  • Leave the "Registration" field empty.
  • Complete all sections with your personal information.
  • Specify the subjects you intend to enroll in.
  • Do NOT indicate which documents you are submitting; the checkboxes are for internal reference by the Secretariat.
  • Sign and date the form.
  • Leave the Coordinator's signature part blank; the Secretary is in charge of it.

 

Observation: The candidate's all personal and academic records have to be combined into a single PDF file; hard copies of the paperwork are not required. Documents have to be scanned on both sides, be clear, and be complete.Every required document must be included, regardless of whether it has been previously submitted for selection.

Scholarships/Fellowships

About the Scholarship

Outstanding citizens of OAS member states have the opportunity to apply for 1,100 scholarships via the PAEC - OAS and GCUB International Mobility Program (Mob) to study master's or PhD degrees in Brazilian universities. The Organization of American States (OAS) and the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB) are partners in the Partnerships Program for Education and Training (PAEC), which is supported by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO / WHO) and the Division of Educational Themes of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The application deadline is July 14, 2023.

 

Benefits

  • Complete payment of tuition (program costs)
  • a monthly living expenditure payment that is partially determined by the host institutions' CAPES minimum value.
  • Note: Students must be prepared and have extra money to support their living expenses because the monthly stipend is not meant to cover all of them.
  • The top 150 applicants will receive a one-time payment of $1,200 USD from OAS, which will be awarded when the student arrives at the university.
  • Free assistance in Portuguese language.
  • For Master's degree applicants, these advantages are available for a maximum of 24 months, while for Doctorate candidates, they are available for 48 months.

 

Who is Eligible?

  • Eligible applicants must be citizens and/or permanent residents of any OAS Member State, excluding Brazil*.
  • Applicants should not have previously received academic scholarships from the OAS or Brazil for the same level of studies they are applying for.
  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) is required for application to a Master's and/or Doctorate program.
  • Portuguese language proficiency is not required during the application phase. However, selected scholarship recipients must demonstrate proof of proficiency at a superior intermediate level before completing their studies in Brazil.
  • Applications will be accepted exclusively through the online Scholarship Program Application. Incomplete applications will render candidates ineligible for the selection process.
  • Applicants are required to thoroughly read, comprehend, and accept the Announcement in its entirety.

 

Instructions for Applying

  1. Examine the scholarship announcement, together with its prerequisites, rewards, obligations, and the Brazil Scholarship Program's founding principles.
  2. Examine the list of study programs and the Brazilian universities that are involved in the initiative.
  3. Select three (3) master's or doctorate study programs, making sure that each program is housed in a separate university in three different Brazilian areas.
  4. Gather all required application materials. Considering that certain colleges can close for summer break, we advise starting this procedure as soon as possible.
  5. Fill in the application form and attach the necessary supporting documentation.
  6. The institutions will get the documentation that is needed and provided in the application form for each study program's admissions procedure. The candidate is not required to submit a direct admissions application to the universities.
  7. Wait for the announcement of results, which will include the list of selected candidates for the scholarship.
